
The Governor of Saga Prefecture visits Loosdorf Castle

Mr.Yamaguchi the Governor of Saga prefecture on Japan's westernmost main island of Kyushu visited Loosdorf Castle, Austria and toured its collection of old Imari shards. He exchanged opinions with the castle's owner, Mr. Gabriel Piatti, on the reappraisal of old Imari porcelain and the new possibilities for its porcelain in Europe.
Machiko Hoshina, the ROIP project founder, guided Governor Yamaguchi through Loosdorf Castle alongside Mr. Piatti.
She explained how ROIP Japan and the Piatti family have been driving this research and restoration project, the collection of porcelain shards of the Loosdorf Castle, which was destroyed after the Second World War, was brought back to life.
She also mentioned that a video introducing the ROIP project is being exhibited at the Austria Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, and that a three-year research project on the ceramic shards collection is underway at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
